Meet Shannon

I’m driven by a simple belief: children thrive when they feel curious and happy around food, and families flourish when they have clear, supportive guidance that fits naturally into their daily lives.

Hi, I'm Shannon — a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (RD, LDN). I became an RD because I wanted to help people cut through confusing nutrition claims and find real, evidence-based information. A life cycles nutrition class during undergrad sparked my deep interest in child nutrition and the psychology of how kids eat. I realized I could help shape public health through simple habit changes with children, and from then on I knew I wanted to work in that space.

While working as a dietitian in the 7th largest school district in the country, I saw the rising rates of chronic illness in children and families — even very young kids — and it broke my heart. The systems that were supposed to support them simply weren’t working.

That experience became my turning point.

As a Chinese American from a long line of farmers, my world travels and hands-on organic farming experience in Tuscany showed me what it looks like when people live in deep connection with their food. Those two threads — the reverence I witnessed on the farm and the preventable suffering I saw in the schools — came together and made me realize we could do better.

So I founded Growing Good to help families rediscover that honoring connection to food and its origins, so health can grow naturally again.

Today, I am committed to being by your side — listening deeply, advocating when needed, and guiding you gently toward wellness that lasts. Together we grow good health, good habits, good connections, good families, and good futures.

If this approach speaks to you — whether you're a parent navigating mealtimes or an educator wanting better nutrition learning in your classroom — reach out. I’d be glad to explore how we can work together.
